As a globally leading building materials manufacturer, the Jiaxing gypsum board plant faced problems of aging conveyor belts and frequent failures on its automated production line as it continuously expanded its production scale. These problems seriously affected production efficiency and product quality, and the conveyor belts urgently needed splicing upgrades to ensure the stable operation of the production line.
Timely splicing requirement: The customer required the conveyor belt splicing service to be completed within a short time to reduce the impact on production. Due to strong market demand for gypsum board, the production line could not be shut down for long; Monty had to complete the splicing task safely and on time within the prescribed construction period, which placed extremely high demands on the company's organizational coordination ability and construction efficiency.
Complex environment and technical difficulty: The automated production line of this gypsum board plant is highly complex and specialized. The conveyor belt system is distributed across various production workshops and process stages, including raw material conveying, board forming conveying, finished product packaging conveying and many other sections. The conveyor belt parameters and working conditions in different areas vary, requiring precise splicing design and construction tailored to different situations. At the same time, carrying out splicing work without affecting the normal operation of the existing production line increased the difficulty and risk of construction.
Quality and reliability requirements: Gypsum board production imposes strict requirements on quality indicators such as conveyor belt flatness, tension control and splice firmness. Any splicing defect may cause the belt to mistrack or break during operation, affecting production efficiency and product quality. Monty therefore needed to ensure the professionalism and high quality of its splicing service to meet the customer's expectation of long-term stable operation of the production line.
Monty has an experienced and highly skilled professional team whose members include conveyor belt specialists, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and skilled technical workers. They possess deep professional knowledge and years of practical experience in the field of conveyor belt splicing, and are able to accurately identify all kinds of conveyor belt problems and provide targeted solutions.
Before the project started, Monty's technical team went deep into the gypsum board plant site and carried out a comprehensive and detailed survey and assessment of the conveyor belt system of the automated production line. Through full communication with the plant's equipment management personnel and operators, they gained a detailed understanding of the belts' operating conditions, failure history and the customer's specific requirements, providing a solid foundation for the subsequent splicing plan design.
In response to the complex production environment and the diverse conveyor belt types of the gypsum board plant, Monty formulated a detailed technical plan. Advanced non-destructive testing technology for conveyor belts was adopted to accurately assess the aged and damaged belts and determine the best splicing positions and methods. At the same time, professional conveyor belt vulcanized splicing technology and high-precision mechanical equipment were used to ensure the flatness and firmness of the splices, meeting the requirements of high-speed operation and heavy-load conveying on the production line.
To ensure the project was completed on time, Monty set up a dedicated project management team responsible for coordinating resources and construction progress. The team members have rich project management experience and were able to arrange the construction process reasonably and effectively solve various problems arising during construction.
A 24-hour rapid response mechanism was established to maintain close communication with the customer. During project implementation, construction progress was reported to the customer in a timely manner, and the construction plan was adjusted promptly according to the customer's needs and feedback. Urgent problems and requests raised by the customer could be responded to and effectively resolved in the shortest possible time, ensuring the smooth progress of the project.
Materials, equipment and personnel required for construction were prepared in advance, and a detailed construction schedule and emergency plans were formulated. During construction, the plan was strictly followed and resources were allocated reasonably, ensuring that all stages were closely linked and the construction period was shortened to the maximum extent.
Safety is the foremost principle of Monty's service. At the construction site, complete safety protection facilities and warning signs were set up, and construction personnel received safety training to raise safety awareness. Relevant safety regulations and standards were strictly observed to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment during construction.
A strict quality control system was established, with rigorous quality control at every step from belt material selection and splicing process to acceptance. Comprehensive performance tests were carried out on the spliced conveyor belts, including tension tests, mistracking tests and wear resistance tests, to ensure that all performance indicators of the belts met or exceeded the customer's requirements. During testing, any problems found were rectified promptly until a perfect state was reached.
Stage 1: Preliminary Preparation
Monty's technical team entered the gypsum board plant, completed the on-site survey and assessment, and determined the final splicing plan together with the customer.
In accordance with the plan, the required conveyor belt materials, vulcanizing equipment and auxiliary tools were purchased, ensuring that the quality and specifications of the materials met the requirements.
Construction personnel were organized for technical briefing and safety training, clarifying construction tasks and the division of responsibilities.
Stage 2: Conveyor Belt Vulcanized Splicing
In accordance with the predetermined plan, the aged and damaged conveyor belts were progressively dismantled and cut. During dismantling, care was taken to protect the surrounding equipment and facilities to avoid unnecessary damage.
Professional vulcanizing equipment and technology were used to carry out high-precision vulcanized splicing of the conveyor belts. During vulcanization, parameters such as temperature, time and pressure were strictly controlled to ensure the quality and performance of the splices.
As soon as each section of conveyor belt had been spliced, a preliminary quality inspection and adjustment was carried out immediately, so that problems could be discovered and solved in good time.
Stage 3: System Commissioning and Optimization
After all conveyor belt splicing was completed, comprehensive commissioning and running tests were carried out on the conveyor belt system of the entire automated production line. Different production conditions were simulated to check the running smoothness, tension stability and splice reliability of the belts.
Based on the test results, the tension of the conveyor belt system was adjusted and optimized to ensure balanced and consistent tension between all belt sections. Areas that did not run smoothly were further adjusted and improved until the whole system reached its best operating state.
Monty successfully completed the splicing service for the conveyor belts of the Jiaxing gypsum board plant's automated production line within the construction period stipulated by the customer, completing splicing tasks on a total of 150 conveyor belts with a total length of 1,200 meters. After quality inspection and performance testing, all splices were flat, smooth, firm and reliable, and indicators such as belt running smoothness, tension control accuracy and durability all met the customer's expected requirements, effectively improving the operating efficiency and reliability of the production line.
The customer spoke highly of Monty's service quality and professional level. The plant's production manager said: "Monty's timely splicing service solved a big problem for us. Their professional team and efficient management impressed us deeply. Throughout the project, they strictly complied with our schedule requirements, overcame many difficulties, and ensured the smooth upgrading of the production line. Now our production efficiency has been significantly improved and our product quality is more stable."
The successful implementation of this project not only won Monty the customer's trust and a long-term cooperative relationship, but also established a good reputation for the company in the domestic industrial service field. Subsequently, thanks to its outstanding performance in this project, Monty successively obtained automated production line maintenance and service orders from other enterprises, further enhancing the company's influence and competitiveness in the industry.
