All endless belts must be tensioned according to the calculated value / empirical range after being fitted on the machine and before formal use, to ensure the necessary
pull is achieved. In theory, after being tensioned to the standard, a belt will not elongate further in use.
Effective pull (N) = dynamic belt strength (N/mm belt width) × installation elongation
For example: for an 800 mm wide belt of a type rated at 10 N, at an elongation of 0.5%, the effective pull is
800 × 10 × 0.5% = 40 N
1. If the elongation is too small, the rated power required for belt conveying and transmission cannot be reached, and slipping may occur.
2. If the elongation is too large, the effective pull produced by the belt may cause the shaft to bend or even be damaged, and it also affects the service life of the belt.
